As one season ends, another begins
By Ray Cox
March 18th, 2010

You've worked your tail off for an entire year. The highs have been exhilarating; the lows, devastating. You've progressed toward your goals. You've improved in so many ways. It's been fun but hard work, too. Now, it's all come to an end.

That can mean only one thing: It's time to get ready for next year. Have you got a plan? I do. Click the title and see how our plans compare.

Just a hint: I strongly recommend surfing for new gear and watching March Madness.

Interview: Duke Edsall — Part I
By Jeff Kearney
March 3rd, 2010

If Jeff Kearny ever makes it to the Final Four as an official, he'll be high as a kite. To him, achieving that ultimate goal would be breathtaking and exhilarating.

Jeff was recently handed the assignment to track down and interview 2002 Final Four referee Duke Edsall, a 25-year veteran of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Jeff expected him to be higher than a kite, but despite that achievement, Duke was as down-to-earth as ever. Enter and read what Jeff found out about Duke, and the wealth of knowledge he wanted to share with other basketball referees about the world of officiating.

Basketball Clinic: Family Style — Part III
We're all starfishes
By Dennis Cirillo
February 24th, 2010

Our first speaker at the clinic, Joe Lindsay, explained to us that at twenty-seven years of age he was working in the NBA, CBA, NCAA Division I, II and III, junior college, high school varsity and j.v.

The year was 1996. Even though he was that busy, he managed the time to address his fellow officials at that year's Seashore Basketball Clinic.

He was now back to enlighten us once again. This year's topic: "Accountability in Officiating."

Moving up within your association or moving into a new chapter has its dangers. Are there land mines? Of course, but using some of Jeff Kearney's "survival guide" advice may help.

Want to be a leader? Jeff can help. Inside, of course.
