ore likely than not, it started during pick-up games at local playgrounds; then, like so many other trends, it made its way into high school, college, and professional leagues. The trend I refer to is trash talking. Despite all that you hear about it, there is one thing for certain: There is no place for it at any level of basketball, and, more specifically, at your game.
Trash talk can begin in a variety of ways. From the local school pep rally to a couple of individuals out to prove who is best on the court, it is now an expected fact of the game. However, officials must be able to recognize it and deal with it effectively.
