n a way, I feel sorry for some of the kids I see playing basketball who are so gung-ho. When you see them, they always have a basketball in their hands, and are constantly practicing shots either at school or at home. You just know they have misplaced their efforts. Why is that? Consider this.

I live near a very large independent school system - one of the largest in the state - and from time to time officiate at four of its middle schools which feed into the single, large high school which serves that ISD. Here are the stats for even playing basketball in that system.
