The new official: You have latitude
f you are not a varsity official, then you have much more latitude to make mistakes as you advance your understanding and skill. Why? If you are a ref with two years or less, there is almost nothing you can do to elevate yourself any faster than the biased opinion of your supervisor/assignor.
So, don't get the idea that if you call a "perfect" game you will jump to a varsity schedule much faster than the next guy, even the one who is less skilled than you. Bias against all new officials makes that an incredibly steep climb.
