Avoiding Correctable Errors

The correctable error rule

The rule on correctable errors at most levels of play is generally the same and covers situations that involve:

  • awarding unmerited free throws, or failing to award merited free throws;
  • permitting the wrong player to attempt free throws; or
  • erroneously awarding or canceling points.
