"An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules..."

This precept appears at the top of the South Caroline High School League website. It got my attention, and it should get yours.

Holding players to the highest standard

All parents need to stand up and cheer when schools and school organizations teach our children their moral responsibility in playing athletics. You and I bank on it because we inherently accept as fact in our sport that coaches and players know the rules and want to compete according to them, no matter whether they win or lose.
