hen you look at this photo, you have to cringe, especially if you're male, but even if you're female. Getting hit in the groin can happen anytime accidentally. In 2-person mechanics it's nearly impossible to catch, no matter where it happens, so we hope we get lucky or that the teams are very sporting.

But what's an official to do if he is, like this fellow, trailing the play? Getting straightlined anywhere on the court keeps us from doing our best.  Move, stay attentive, and keep our eyes open. Maybe we'll see her get hit. [Editor's note: Yes, for sake of anonymity, some blurring has been added.]

If she reacts in a bad way, we can be sure she didn't do it to herself. Who was closest? Ring up Gold with an unsporting technical foul. If it's bad enough, make it flagrant and disqualify her.
