t has turned icy cold in my little hometown of Heber City, Utah. The sun is still below the mountains this morning, not yet able to warm my little valley. As I pull out of my driveway on my way to work, the outside thermometer reads one degree. I don't have time to dwell on it, however, for a few minutes later Rocky Mountain School comes into view. That turns my thoughts in a different direction, for I am reminded that I have a game there this evening though R.M.S. won't be fielding teams.
The afternoon drive back to the school is peaceful and uneventful. The tunes are cranked, and I'm getting into the zone. As I pull into a parking spot, about 45 minutes before game time, I still have no inkling of the challenges that are ahead.
