Genesis

The Basketball Officials Manual lists procedures for two and three officials. In this article we will be concentrating on two-man mechanics. Under "Responsibilities Before The Game," the manual lists the pregame conference as a must:

The meeting affords an opportunity for the officials to develop confidence in each other. Having a pregame conference does not guarantee a well-officiated game [what does?] , but it does go a long way toward ensuring a smooth running game.
