This series is about Correctable Errors and Rule 2-10 in National Federation rules. The first article in the series talked about situations that are not Correctable under the rule and aren't Fixable in other ways.

Those are primarily bad foul calls and bad violation calls. I said that, in general, such goofs aren't changeable and that the ref must simply swallow hard, administer the penalty, and get the game back in motion.

I've had several people ask that I discuss further various ways to handle a piece of bad judgment. I've had a couple of folks recommend ways to "correct" a bad call. So let's take a break from my planned series and cover these things.

Let's see.... I started the first article with the metaphor of a steak dinner. Okay, we've had a few bites of steak; let's find some steamed asparagus with bitter lemon sauce to round out the meal, or a dish of Potatoes Anna, with crispy bits around the edges. Let's talk about judgment.

Mistakes in judgment I'm great at. I've had enough practice to be considered the Yoda of bad calls. (grin) "Use the Farce. Juulie, may the Farce be with you!" So when I talk about handling bad calls, I speak from a solid background. I know what works and what doesn't, so you can learn from my experience and avoid some problems.
