"Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so," proclaimed Ford Prefect to Arthur Dent over a hasty and rather large round of drinks. The earth, apparently, was just about to be destroyed by a Vogon constructor fleet, and they had to act quickly. Well, I don’t think the earth will end today, but I would have to say Ford was right.
Here I am, on vacation, in a cabin in the woods, just me and my family. (And my laptop and internet connection.) It’s supposed to be one very glorious, nearly inexhaustible week of napping, playing, and relaxing. But the first time I blinked, two days were gone. And so were the homemade chocolate chip cookies. I’m not sure that the two are really related, but I’m mourning the loss of the cookies nearly as much as the two days.
So I guess the moral of today’s little life lesson is that time is precious and once spent, cannot be reclaimed — except in basketball, of course. But even then only sometimes.
