In a previous and decidedly more glamorous life, I was a DJ. My high school had a 1,000 watt FM radio station, and we students staffed it. I was also an engineer since I was heavily involved in electronics at the time. Like most of my peers, I was an on-air legend in my own mind. I eventually lost interest in the airwaves, but not before a stint at a "real" radio station, where I never made it onto the air.
Though the career of Rockin' Ray Cox was short-lived, my love of music continues unabated. My tastes are both cyclical and eclectic, which means that every so often my favorite genre of music changes. But of them all, 80s music holds the fondest place in my heart. Journey, Air Supply, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Bruce Springsteen, Durran Durran, Madonna: Just typing the names takes me back. But at the moment it's a Depeche Mode song that's stuck in my head; some call that an "ear worm." Just a single line from a chorus, really: "Everything counts in large amounts."
